English J. Venables Boxlock Side by Side in 12 Ga, built in the Oxford tradition and prized for balanced field handling. J. Venables was a gunmaker in the famous city of Oxford, England, known for producing top-quality sporting arms.

This classic British boxlock pairs a Straight English stock with double triggers, extractors, and an automatic safety, and carries a solid rib topped by a silver bead sight for quick target acquisition. Smooth break action underscores its dependable performance.

Dating to 1949 in the United Kingdom, this example wears 28" barrels with 2 1/2" chambers and fixed chokes (Left: Full; Right: IC). The solid rib tapers from 8 1/2mm to 6mm, and the top rib is engraved "J. VENABLES & SON ST. ALDATES, OXFORD." Overall condition is very good with handling marks in the wood appropriate to its age; the underside of the barrels shows negligible surface corrosion. The receiver and fence display well?executed scroll engraving. Stock dimensions are LOP 14 1/2" (to wood 14 1/2"), DAC 1 1/4", DAH 2 3/8", with Right?hand cast, and overall length is 44 1/2".
