Description:
Handsome and great handling August Francotte 12 bore sideplated Model 20E boxlock ejector with loads of residual case coloring and hand engraving. Imported by Ambercrombie & Fitch in the 1920’s this nice condition Francotte serial number 1235 has a top extension, sideclips, auto safety, selective automatic ejectors, and a non-selective single trigger. Easy to carry for a day afield at 6lb 11oz.
The 26” Siemens Martin Steel nitro barrels are chambered for 2-3/4” shotshells. They are topped by a raised solid hand crosshatched tapered rib with a small brass front bead. The top of the right barrel is marked “A. Francotte Maker & Patentee”. The top of the left barrel is marked “Abercrombie & Fitch Co.” and “Made in Belgium”. The bores are shiny and bright. The bluing is in very good condition with a few minor handling marks. The right barrel is bored 0.725 with a constriction of 0.008 for Improved Cylinder choke. The left barrel is also bored 0.725 and has a constriction of 0.022 for Modified choke.
The very nicely figured European walnut stock has a swept back Prince of Wales style stock and splinter forearm. The finish is in overall good condition but there are a few minor handling marks from normal usage. Checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-7/8” including a 3/4” recoil pad by 1-3/8” by 1-7/8”. Cast off for the righthanded shooter.
