Description:
***SOLD***
Scarce transition era Winchester Model 70 Target rifle in 220 Swift. This is a higher condition example with Pre War style clover leaf tang receiver and the unique "clam shell" or "rabbit's foot" safety lever used only during this brief production period from approximately 1946-1948.
S/N 61912 with matching bolt made in 1946.
96-97% condition throughout with very strong original finishes. There is a small dibit in the wood near left side side of receiver which appears factory cut. A high percentage of these rifles were issued by Winchester with Lyman 48WH receiver sights and this commonly seen dibit served as clearance for that sight's elevation screw. The rifle is currently set up and priced with target scope blocks mounted in factory holes. If buyer wanted to remount a Lyman 48WH receiver sight, I am offering a minty one with matching component #s in another GI listing to run concurrently with this rifle.
This rifle's barrel channel is clean and free of any modifications. The bore and throat are excellent, and the mechanical functions all proper.
A very fine and seldom seen configuration of target rifle for your collection.
Expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska is an additional $100.
