Winchester Model 70 30GOVT03 (30-06) Pre-64

Made in 1948.
Immaculate.
Stock, Bore Metal work all awsomely beautiful.
Jeweled Bolt.
Rough metal on bolt knob only deficiency. All else immmaculate.
Receiver drilled and tapped for scope mount. No sights.

The stamped nomenclature for cartridges changed early in the life of the model 70 winchester. From the internet found the following:

"The early M70's chambered in 30-06 all bore the legend ".30 Gov't (30-06)" on the barrel. When production resumed after WWII the ".30 Gov't" was dropped. Had a 1939 mfg'd M70 with the same stamping. The wood is straight grained black walnut with close fit to all metal parts."
