1973 Belgian Browning Medallion Grade High Power Rifle 300 Winchester Magnum + Leupold 2-7X Vari-X IIc Scope
Description: For sale is a very nice Belgium Browning Medallion Grade bolt action rifle! Production numbers for these rifles are extremely low and often overlooked or not even known by most. In total the estimated production for all calibers in the Medallion Grade is estimated at 4035. Of these only 497 are reported as being chambered in 300 Win Mag. These figures are from a table in Browning's historical records, showing production numbers for Olympian and Medallion grade rifles produced in 1964-1978. They are not a complete production record as they began producing them in 1960 or 1961 but it is the best reference I believe exists for these rifles. Not only are these rifles low production, they are also extremely high quality. The hand crafted stock features excellent wood grain, capped with rosewood, and finished in high gloss. The skip line checkering is also hand cut and features an exquisitely carved border. The cost to reproduce one today, in equal quality, is more than the price of the entire rifle. Quoted to me by one of the few stockmakers I would trust with this task, his price to me was $5000 for a Medallion grade stock and $8500 for an Olympian grade. The receiver and barrel are tastefully scroll engraved and finished in Browning's signature high luster blue. The floorplate features the Medallion's signature gold filled Ram's Head surrounded by scroll Condition: Very good condition overall, does have some scattered handling and wear mostly in the wood, metal is very nice! Bore is excellent. I have had this rifle completely disassembled and took photos of everything underneath. Being a 1973 gun it is pretty safe from salt issues but wanted to be sure it was clean and it was, can send the photos upon request.
