RARE Antique COLT NEW LINE .38 ETCHED PANEL Pocket Revolver w/4-INCH BARREL DOCUMENTED 4-INCH Barrel BRITISH PROOFED Handgun
Description: RARE Antique COLT NEW LINE .38 ETCHED PANEL Pocket Revolver w/4-INCH BARREL DOCUMENTED 4-INCH Barrel BRITISH PROOFED Handgun Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Etched Panel Colt New Line .38 Caliber Revolver, made in 1878 with a production run between 1874-80 in Hartford, Connecticut. This example has British proofs on the cylinder and 4-inch barrel. The matching serial number is on the left of the grip frame and bottom of the barrel, with the rear face of the cylinder having the last three digits “719”, just one digit off the serial number of this revolver. This was likely a mistake made at the factory. This revolver was formerly part of the renowned William M. Locke collection and is pictured on p. 197 of “The William Locke Collection” of the 1973 edition by Frank M. Sellers. The Locke collection is widely regarded as the most outstanding collection of American handguns ever assembled. Here is an extremely handsome, documented, and collectible specimen of the Colt New Line .38! A single action revolver, this small pocket revolver was one of a number of attainable handguns produced by Colt from 1873 to 1884. The “New Line” was Colt’s first production model handgun chambered for .38 caliber and outnumbered all other pistols in Colt’s “New Line” group. This revolver utilized a .38 cartridge matched to a 5-shot fluted cylinder with the vast majority of them fitted to a 2-1/2 inch long round barrel. This example is fitted with a very scarce 4-inch long barrel. About 12,516 were produced in .38 caliber during its six year production run. The overall condition is fine. Much original blue finish. Excellent action. The bore is in good shape for its age retaining a bright shimmer with strong rifling. Both grips are very fine with minimal handling evidence. Markings are legible. Partially visible etched panel. British proofed cylinder. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4 inches. Caliber: .38 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
