Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips appear to be original checkered walnut with smooth diamonds. The grip screws are not worn and are in near perfect condition. The grips have some scattered light nicks, scuffs, and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The grips are in about Very Good condition. Type of Finish: Blued Finish Originality: Original with about 85%-90% of original bluing remaining. Bore Condition: The bore is gray with well-defined rifling. Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85%-90% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning on some of the edges from what appears to be mostly holster and handling wear. Most of the balance is handling wear in the grip areas and trigger guard. There are a few scattered light scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads are sharp with perfect slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is crisp. The slide locks up tight to the frame. I have fired this pistol once and it is fully functional. Due to its age, I would not recommend more than very occasional use. Accessories: This pistol comes with one period correctlanyard loop 7-round magazine. Assessment: . Between 1912 and 1917 the Marine Corps received only 4850 Colt Model 1911 pistols for service is WWI making them extremely scarce and valuable. This pistol is in overall very good condition with all of its major components original. The receiver, grips, barrel, slide and sights all appear to be original to the gun based on the markings and wear patterns. It is difficult to say with any certainty about the smaller components. Many of these USMC pistols have been selling at for well over $15K the last few years. I will entertain reasonable offers. I I am a C&R holder and this is a C&R gun. I can ship this to another C&R holder or to your FFL. I will gladly take a personal check but will delay shipping by one week until the check clears. I can also take several forms of electronic payment. I can offer a payment plan with a deposit if desired. Email with questions or if more info is needed.
