For sale is a rare Sawtooth # 8 bear trap, serial # 8 of 30. There were only 30 steel Sawtooth #8 bear traps produced, they sold out approximately seven years ago. This trap is rare as only five were made with the extra long chain and extra large drag, and weighs 138 pounds. This trap is one of only a very few that were fully polished.
Sawtooth bear traps have a unique design with the teeth on top of the jaws and the vicious spikes extending down from the jaws. All traps were produced entirely in Idaho with steel from the U.S.A. This is the only trap on the market with the old Newhouse style swivel that was used in the 1800's and extremely strong tempered springs, chain, jawposts and square nuts. It comes with an especially large hand hamered three prong drag and is attached to the ring by a cold shut. This trap also comes with a Sawtooth #8 setting clamp, the largest setting clamps made. There is a similar trap to this on display in the Cabela's store in Anchorage Alaska.
Compare the quality of the Sawtooth #8 bear trap with the cheaply made Ed Hutzel Traps. His traps tend to decrease in value on day one, unlike the Sawtooth Traps.
