CONFEDERATE CSA BELT PLATE

Description:
Original. has been cleaned before I got this, CSA Atlanta Arsenal made plate, thin sand cast, guaranteed Civil War period manufacture, This plate shows age, wear and wear polishing to some areas from use. There are variations and tones to the patina from green/greenblue, light redish brown to darker brown, and variations in between, in the recesses and on places on the front and reverse as these pictures show.. The pressure points where the hooks were bent over when the plate was made are vivible on the front. There are file marks along parts of the edge that appear smooth from wear and age. The high points on the reverse are also polished from wear. there are also old micro abraison marks and use scars on the face reflecting a lot of use, This plate has been compared to other known original examples of this variation.
